Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toniz Collins (born in Mexico) is the Mexican American journalist. She currently works for ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. She joined ESPN as a reporter in the year 2016. She is the daughter of television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins has been bi-lingual since nine years old. It was a helpful skill that helped her secure her first job as a production assistant at Univision in Miami that gave her the chance to work with the producers of national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. When she was in St. Petersburg, she was employed as a reporter by the CBS station to work as the sports reporter. In 2009, the reporter relocated from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley Texas where she worked for KNVO TV 48 Univision as and Fox2 News. In reporting on news stories about the trafficking of drugs and immigration on both sides the Texas-Mexico Border, she served as an anchor for the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 at 5pm, then a news reporter on English at 9 pm and after which she became a news anchor until 10 pm, and then returned on the Spanish channel. In addition, she was frequently asked to serve as an anchor for sports and weather. Later, she was the anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. The station then gave her larger responsibilities. She covered the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. She also produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and was the anchor. She worked as anchor for the sports segment of Despierta America Deportes morning show. The same role, she worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports program). Antonietta Collins was born and raised in Veracruz Mexico. The family moved into Mexico City where she was born on the 22nd of November, 1985. There is also an older sibling. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and settled in Miami. After a short time, her father divorced from her mother and she was subsequently remarried by 1995 naval architect called Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died of kidney cancer in the year 2006. Her residence was at Canton Ohio with her older sister in the summertime and was offered a job. At the time of her senior year in high school but with a clear idea about what she wanted to pursue in her future, Antonietta was able to visit her local University of Mount Union to determine if the school was suitable for her requirements. She loved the campus. They also offered her the degree she wanted. After completing her studies, she was accepted into the University for a master's degree studying media and communication studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the manager of the WRMU's 91.1FM station for which she worked for many years, became an acquaintance. He was the one who boosted her confidence, and his passion for Journalism deeply touched her. As a result, she was determined to exceed his expectations and never let him down.
